Home construction around the 400-slip marina at River Dunes is progressing well. Work has begun on the Harbor Club of River Dunes.
          The largest single investment in the history of Pamlico County, River Dunes is a model of cooperation between developers and environmental advocates. Although more than 600 homes will be built over the next 10 years, the developers could have planned for more than twice that many. Instead, wetlands and other ecologically sensitive areas will be undisturbed, and more than 200 acres will be preserved as open space.
